History

The group was originaly created in 2008, to promote Morning Musume's performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, Cinderella the Musical.

Their sound is said to have an R&B feel. The group is made up of members from several Hello! Project groups; Morning Musume, Berryz Koubou, and °C-ute. A member of Hello! Pro Egg is also included in the line-up. High-King's leader is Tanaka Reina from Morning Musume.

The group was created for the sole purpose of promotion and support, making it short lived albeit reasonably successful. Their debut single, C\C (Cinderella\Complex) (C\C (シンデレラ\コンプレックス), was a relative success, having a peak ranking of #6 on the Oricon Charts. The single was released on June 11, 2008.

Producer Tsunku said the members were chosen for their ability to dance and belt out dancable R&B numbers, adding, "As they're girls they should really be 'High Queen' but it didn't have enough punch." He said their debut has a faster beat than anything he's produced so far.
